Wellness and fitness operator UFIT is working in partnership with fitness education company CAWS to certify forty of its personal trainers and clinicians to deliver the Battle Cancer Program in four locations across Singapore.

The Battle Cancer Program™ is a strength and fitness program delivered twice a week over 12 weeks, specifically tailored for people in the later stages of their Cancer rehab. The Battle Cancer Program Certification, which officially launched in early 2023 and co-created with CAWS, is the brainchild of Battle Cancer founder Scott Britton, and was devised for Personal Trainers to work with individuals after their Cancer treatment.

UFIT is best known for its Circle of Care and integrated approach to health, fitness and sports. With four locations across Singapore, more than 60 experienced Coaches and Clinicians offer personal training, nutrition, physiotherapy, health screenings and performance expertise. The brand and its team are held in high regard by local health practitioners and providers, and this trusted network of professionals will mean a seamless referral for those seeking ongoing support and guidance after their Cancer treatment.

On average, one in three people in Singapore will be diagnosed with Cancer some time in their lives, and about one in four deaths in Singapore are caused by the disease. 86% of those treated for Cancer experience debilitating fatigue after treatment and after three years, a third of people still struggle with physical limitations and issues — the most proven way to help is through physical activity and graded exercise.

For Battle Cancer Program participants the average increase in strength markers is upwards of 90%, and physiological benefits include lowered resting heart rate, improved muscle metabolism, and enhanced aerobic function. The teams at Battle Cancer and CAWS are working hard to verify data now about the rate of improvement in ‘quality of life’ scores. Early indicators point towards significant reduction in ‘recovery’ time to around six months.

Declan Halpin, Commercial Brand Director at UFIT, told us: “UFIT teaming up with the Battle Cancer program is a chance for our coaches to make a meaningful difference in the work that they do. This collaboration isn't just about fitness; it's about community, progress in the face of adversity, and improving the day to day lives and longevity of our client’s facing cancer. We're really excited about working with Battle Cancer and bringing this program into Singapore.”

UFIT Personal Trainer and Corporate Wellness Manager, Ker Tshing Ang, said:  “Completing the Battle Cancer Program Level 1 Certification was a transformative experience. The outstanding course structure and delivery, coupled with insights from dedicated coaches and impactful content, reinforce the vital role movement plays in benefiting patients. I am excited to apply this knowledge to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those navigating cancer. Thank you UFIT for this education opportunity and the team behind CAWS.”

CAWS Managing Director, Mel Spooner, explained: “Dec and I first met in Singapore last Summer and I was drawn to UFIT’s integrated model, and the high quality of the coaching team. The ready-made network for referrals that they’ve established over time with local health practitioners is well-oiled and a pathway, which the whole UFIT team takes really seriously.

The brand’s positioning around health together with performance is something that sits really well with us. We’re really pleased to partner with UFIT to bring the Battle Cancer Program to life in Singapore. Forty new Coaches is an outstanding commitment and will make a critical impact to the local community immediately, and we look forward to the real-life stories from the Coaching Team and their clients.”

UFIT will launch the Battle Cancer Program across its four locations in CBD, Orchard, City Hall, and one-north from May 2024. For advance details contact [email protected].
